Hi, I’m Lana
I am the daughter of the Mediterranean Sea, a place where cultures and histories collide. I crossed continents and now find myself in the multilingual, vibrant city of Montreal, Canada. This diverse background has shaped my worldview and deepened my understanding of both the diversity and interconnectedness of educational systems worldwide. Growing up as a plurilingual speaker, I have had the privilege of embracing multiple languages. I am fluent in three languages: Arabic, English, and French. Born and raised in Lebanon, my primary education was conducted mainly in French, while my undergraduate and graduate studies in Education were in English. Currently, I work as a lecturer in the B.Ed. TESL and PIF programs at McGill University and the TESL and TFSL programs at the Département de didactique des langues at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). My research interests revolve around plurilingualism, language pedagogy, teacher education, and educational technology. My PhD research explores the intersection of plurilingualism and educational technology in teacher education programs, aiming to better equip language teachers to implement plurilingual and technology-mediated practices. This involves deconstructing the dominant narrative that attributes implementation challenges solely to teachers' skepticism while overlooking the systemic and contextual complexities of the educational system. By reframing this discourse, my research seeks to identify approaches that account for these broader influences and better support teachers in navigating them.
