Hi, I’m Lana
I am the daughter of the Mediterranean Sea, a place where cultures and histories collide. Born and raised in Lebanon, I later migrated to Canada—a journey that reshaped my relationship with language, identity, and education. Growing up as a plurilingual speaker, I have had the privilege of embracing multiple languages, specifically English, French, and Arabic, and navigating various educational systems. My schooling in Lebanon, including my undergraduate and graduate studies, took place within institutions affiliated with both the French and American systems. I later completed my doctoral studies within the Canadian higher education system. This trans-systemic trajectory has deepened my understanding of how language, policy, and pedagogy intersect and diverge across borders, shaping the way I approach my work as a researcher and educator. Currently, I am a teacher educator in the B.Ed. TESL and PIF programs at McGill University, and in the TESL and TFSL programs at the Département de didactique des langues at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). My research interests revolve around plurilingualism, language pedagogy, teacher education, and educational technology.
